Behind The Lens With Diana Bartlett

On chasing light, living from a suitcase, and the art of disappearing beautifully.

If Crazy Love had a passport, it would be stamped with Diana Bartlett’s name. Model, photographer, and perennial front-row fixture, Diana lives at the intersection of fashion and freedom—effortlessly capturing light, mood, and the magic of a moment. For our Summer Solstice campaign, she turned the coast of Athens into a dream sequence for our boldest scent yet. Here, the elusive creative behind the lens shares her rituals, inspirations, and the sensory souvenirs she collects along the way.

You’ve shot campaigns from Athens to Paris to who-knows-where next—what city or landscape has left its mark on your eye the most? And what makes a location feel like a photograph before the camera even comes out?

I’m always the most inspired by my latest discovery and destination but cannot pinpoint one location. Something that’s lived in is always a location before the camera comes out.

You’re on both sides of the lens—as photographer and muse. How does that duality shape the way you see beauty, intimacy, and identity When do you feel most in your element?

I defi nitely prefer to be behind the camera but who doesn’t love a little attention every now and again!

"It's all about sun, salt and sex."

You captured the spirit of Crazy Love in a way that’s sensual and sun-soaked—what drew you to the story of this scent? Was there a scene, a texture, a color palette you chased while shooting?

The heat! It’s all about sun, salt and sex. Alluding to something sensual whilst not actually displaying it. The visuals of summer and the stills of falling in love.

Walk us through your camera bag. What are your essentials—film, fragrance, lucky charms?

Portra 400, sunscreen, L’été 67 for the season and I have a few memento’s I scatter throughout bags. It’s always nice to have a little surprise.

"... falling in love and ripping up the dance floor ..."

You’re famously impossible to pin down—what’s your trick to staying grounded when life is lived between time zones? Any rituals, notes to self, or must-haves in your carry-on?

I cannot wait to reach a point where I just tap out and live on a farm, surf everyday and don’t have an alarm clock. But for the time being, I do Pilates on zoom once a week no matter what. I started that a year ago, it’s surprisingly grounding just to have one thing per week that’s the same. In my carry on: supplements and my NuFace!

What makes something unforgettable?

The two most unforgettable / thrilling feelings for me are falling in love and ripping up the dance floor with my best mates.

What's always in your bag no matter where you are in the world?

Sunglasses, hand sanitizer, headphones and a chocolate bar.
